Why he’s hot: Zairil defiantly joined DAP in spite of being the son of Umno luminary Tan Sri Mohd Khir Johari – our former Minister of Education and an MP since before Merdeka; When hounded by detractors voicing skepticism over his ‘true’ race, Zairil responded by advising them to “Never go full retard” (or, something to that effect); Under Zairil, the Penang Institute has risen to become one of the country’s leading economic think tanks; And, well, just look at the dude!

Fun facts: Teo is bonkers for books: after obtaining her law degree, she worked as a librarian in the UK for one year; Teo’s father was Secretary of DAP’s Labis Parliamentary Constituency Campaign Committee, while her sister and brother-in-law are Chief and Deputy Chair, respectively, of the Dapsy Johor State Council (wonder what they talk about during family gatherings?); In 2003, Teo became the youngest ever winner of a National Public Speaking contest (and you thought YOU’ve got the gift of gab?)
Why she’s hot: She’s impassioned, erudite and sassy; In 2010 Teo caused pandemonium and near Armageddon when she delivered a speech in a surau without covering her hair – this led to charges Teo had “desecrated a place of worship” and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) slapping her with a ban on entering the prayer area of any surau or mosque in the state; In 2012, to the consternation of many, Teo brought her fractious four year-old to Parliament to highlight the lack of childcare facilities in government agencies (that is one hot mama!)

Zahida Khan, Umno

Fun facts: Gooi was called to the bar at UK’s Lincoln’s Inn, the world’s most prestigious professional body of judges and lawyers (we’d like to call him to a bar sometime too); He is the son of political trailblazer Gooi Hock Seng, former DAP Member of Parliament and State Assemblyman; In 2004 he joined the United Nation’s UNIMSET mission in East Timor and acted as counsel for defendants accused of crimes against humanity (Sexxayyy!)
Why he’s hot: Gooi began his tempestuous love affair with politics while a young boy, on the campaign trail with his father for multiple elections; He enjoys being knee-deep in human rights-related cases through his Penang-based practice; And he bears a passing resemblance to Tony Leung Chiu-wai (he does!)

Nurul Izzah Anwar, PKR

Fun facts: Though she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Nurul Izzah’s Masters is in International Relations (from Johns Hopkins University, one of the world’s top tertiary institutions – yowzah!); Last year, she was arrested for sedition over a speech she gave in Parliament which criticized her father’s jailing (she was the first MP to be arrested for sedition since 1978); Nurul Izzah is legally barred from entering both East Malaysia states (their loss!).
Why she’s hot: In spite of the harrowing upending of her life at age 17, Nurul Izzah went on to become a ‘boss’ scholar and now, kick-a** politician; She’s been ranked the 108th most influential woman in the world for 2016 by RichTopia at www.powerfulwomen.co (you go girl!); She plays the guitar like a Sir and her favourite band is Radiohead (swoon!); And though she doesn’t ‘do’ makeup, Nurul looks like a million Ringgit (prior to its recent plummet).

Yeo Bee Yin, DAP

Fun facts: Academically speaking, Yeo is FIERCE – she has a Master’s degree (with a Commendation) in Advanced Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University (fuyoh!); In the 2013 general election, Yeo won her State constituency with 83.6% of the votes (the highest majority for a state seat in Malaysia); She is one of the pioneers of DAP’s ambitious Impian Malaysia movement; And the girl can write like NOBODY’s business
Why she’s hot: In addition to all the above, Yeo runs a programme called LEAP – a leadership training camp for university students; Her office runs two tuition centres for underprivileged kids, as well as a free taxi scheme for the hardcore poor; And she’s a cheek-pinchable cutie-patootie!
