KUALA LUMPUR:
The deletion of two sentences in no way affects the final report by the Public Account Committee (PAC) on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), says its chairman Hasan Arifin.

He said the sentences were deleted either because of its unclear status or because it was being investigated and was therefore not for public consumption.

“This was told to all PAC members during the tabling of the report before all PAC members on April 7.

“Entering a statement which is unclear or being investigated is something prejudicial and all PAC members should convince the authorities to conduct further investigations before making a statement,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Hasan said the authorities, like the police which had specific expertise to carry out the responsibility, had set-up a special team to investigate any misconduct.

Hasan said this when commenting on a statement by DAP lawmaker Tony Pua yesterday that two sentences in the final 1MDB report had been deleted, one regarding the discussion between Audit Department officers and members of the PAC.

The other, Pua said, was on the discussions of the PAC members with government officers involved in preparing the 1MDB report.

Pua, in a press conference yesterday accused Hasan of deleting the two sentences despite all PAC members from the Barisan Nasional and Opposition agreeing that the information be included in the 1MDB report.
