Malik said PAS’ Padang Serai Division Chief Shaharuddin Ibrahim had delivered a tazkirah (sermon) at a mosque two weeks ago, where he allegedly made this claim.
“The Ramadan tazkirah should be about spreading the goodness of the faith, talking about the good deeds of the prophet. Instead, it was used as a political stage to spew lies.
“It is regrettable that such slander was uttered in a mosque in the holy month of Ramadan,” he told a press conference at Komtar today, where he passed excerpts from Shaharuddin’s sermon to reporters
Shaharuddin was alleged to have said: “Kalau DAP menguasai negara … nuu Pulau Pinang tuan-tuan, bang (azan) dah tak boleh dah, bang (azan) tak boleh dah, tuan tuan!”
(“If DAP controls the country, let alone Penang, gentlemen, the sounding of the call for prayer will not be possible.”)
Malik said the video of the tazkirah was uploaded onto YouTube and the mosque’s Facebook page.
“I hope Shaharuddin apologises for what he has said to the Penang Government immediately as the video clip has gone viral online,” Malik said.
