KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Speaker Ismail Mohamed Said said the Barisan Nasional (BN) logo had appeared by mistake during the tabling of Budget 2018 and that an apology was made and accepted.

The issue of the BN logo appearing on TV screens in the Dewan Rakyat last Friday was raised by Kasthuri Patto (DAP-Batu Kawan) .

It was reported earlier that the matter would be investigated.

“There were 804 slides that were used during the tabling of Budget 2018 and only one had used the BN logo which appeared on the screen but it was not visible on other slides.

“The slides are prepared as visual aids to the speech by the finance minister and the display of this logo was done unintentionally and was overlooked by the slide supervisor.

“We have accepted their explanation on the matter and they have apologised to me on the mistake. Let us use this as an example and not repeat such a thing in future. We have to always respect and obey the house decorum at all times.

This prompted M Kulasegaran (DAP-Ipoh Barat) to stand up and explain the difference between a political party and the government.

“This has been the confusion for the last 60 years, where it was made to look like BN was the government and the government was BN.

“This is why government employees do not know the logo does not have to be shown on the slides.

“I hope that even though the apology has been made, this is not repeated in the future and that action is taken against those involved as we are talking about this honorable house.
