Paper: Bala links Najib’s family member to Altantuya cover-up

Tue, Nov 17, 2009

National

altantuya n bala MORE damning details implicating a member of the Prime Minister’s family have emerged in private investigator P. Balasub-ramaniam’s allegations of a cover-up in the Altantuya murder.

The allegations include blackmail with threats against Bala’s family, forcing him to withdraw  his statutory declaration and sign another that he never read.

Immediately after the second declaration was released to the media on July 4, Bala claimed, arrangements were made for him and his family to flee Malaysia. He said he was told to remain in hiding until Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak was sworn in as Prime Minister.

Details of the threat by the VVIP  and the already reported  RM5 million bribe, along with the  involvement of military intelligence in strengthening the threat has added more intrigue–and speculation–about the gruesome murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2006.

Suara Keadilan, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat newspaper,  carried in its latest edition a report on the alleged involvement of  Najib’s family member and a carpet businessman named Deepak Jaikishan in the forced exile of  Bala and his family. Bala, his wife and children travelled to Singapore, Bangkok and Kathmandu before ending up in India.

That and other details of Bala’s 15-month ordeal of  living as a fugitive are expected to surface in the coming days as the opposition parties call for a Royal Commission of Inquiry.

Suara Keadilan quoted Bala as saying that  he was forced to retract his first statutory declaration of an alleged link between Najib and Altantuya, who had a sexual relationship with Najib’s adviser Abdul Razak Baginda.najib-razak-altantuya440

Razak Baginda confessed in an affidavit that Altantuya was his lover, while Najib has denied  knowing the Mongolian model.

The paper quoted Bala as saying that the member of  Najib’s household teamed up with Deepak in using a carrot and stick approach to persuade him  to withdrawing the first statutory declaration.

Deepak, who is said to be associated to  Najib’s wife,  Rosmah  Mansor,  allegedly offered the private investigator  RM5 million to retract  the declaration, said Suara Keadilan. The paper claimed it had obtained a transcript of  an interview Bala had with a group of lawyers.

Deepak ordered Bala to be brought to see a “Datuk” on the same day he made public his first statutory declaration, according to the paper.

It said Bala, a former Special Branch officer,  identified the Datuk as a member of the Prime Minister’s family.

He told the lawyers the first statutory declaration, in which he claimed that Najib had a relationship with Altantuya, was true but that he signed a second declaration to contradict the first after  he was taken to see  the Datuk at the Curve in  Damansara on July 3, 2008. At that meeting, the Datuk allegedly told him to  “follow Deepak’s  instructions if  he (Bala) loves his family,” Suara Keadilan reported.

Bala said the specific instruction to him was to withdraw the July 3 and leave Malaysia immediately. Hours later, he signed the contradicting declaration, which had been prepared for him.

He and his family were then taken by road to Singapore before being flown to Thailand and Nepal and eventually to India, where he has been hiding, but where he was on numerous occasions contacted by Deepak or his associates.

According to Suara Keadilan,  Bala concluded the startling account by saying: “As a family man, I want to have a normal life. I want to put a stop to all this. ”

In the course of their many exchanges, Bala said Deepak told him how he came to know Rosmah and even offered to arrange  a breakfast meeting with the Prime Minister’s wife.

Although  Najib’s  smooth ascension to power took place as scheduled  in April this year, Bala saw little to suggest that he would be allowed to return to Malaysia to lead a normal life with his family, according to the report.

  6. Taikohtai Says:

I am no sleuth but the way BALA was smuggled out of the country revealed the whole set-up was rather amateurish and not well thought through. You would think that a special task force would be formulated to contain the damage following SD1 but it would appear that Najis and Roastmeat were already on panic mode.
And to rope in a amateur confidante cum toyboy to do her dirty deeds can only mean it is a matter of time for our RPK to untangle the process which he has duly done.
    Looks like the self appointed 1stLady is absolutely G U I L T Y!!!

  7. James Kim Says:

No action so far by police or MACC. Usually they act very fast if this involves an opposition member. Bet police won’t even dare to ask PM about this matter. Even the newspaper is not giving coverage to this news. Reporters all dead or editor lost their balls??

  8. Antares Says:

James Kim, you asked who was the member of Najib’s family that met Bala at the Curve and threatened him into agreeing to sign the 2nd SD. I provided the straightforward answer – but the editor of FMT deleted my comment. So you’ll just have to do some research at Malaysia Today where the name is published for all to see and with the correct spelling too. Next you asked: “Reporters all dead or editor lost their balls??” Ha ha. Reporters can report whatever they like but as soon as they submit their stories they have no more control what goes to print or gets broadcast. Editors where got balls? Some more, quite a few are women these days.

  9. 1lanjiao Says:

James Kim , where have you been all these years?

  10. IndianPM Says:

Altantulya is back in hunting for few Malaysians..
    Lets welcome her..

  14. mikediver Says:

kupu kupu…. no nit to ask fat roast duck for advise..!! She already know what is happening. As long there is money for here to spent and being called the “First lady”. She is already there. The only thing she is lack is the LOS(lack of s**) syndrome. Look at Najib ‘hamsup’ face and look at roast duck face macam nak makan olang. In public they have to put up a brave front and potrayed a pretendious smile. At home the spin doctor are planning their next move. Leave them where they are right now. They are having nightmare nightly. They also know their days are numbered. If not, why the ‘allah’ issue.
We will do what we do when the time comes.!! Just vote them out.!!
