The boy’s father, Rosli Gani, 57, a taxi driver, had gone for work at 10am, leaving his wife, the boy Muhammad Azizan Rosli and his sibling at home at Mile 2, Jalan Apas.
At 3pm, the mother went to the At Taqwa mosque in Kampung Sadani for a Quran-reading session, leaving the siblings at home, with Azizan watching TV.
“The mother came home about 4.30pm and found Azizan missing,” Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said.
“A search for the boy was carried out in the village but he could not be found.
“The missing child was last seen wearing a blue football jersey and black pants.”
According to Fadil, there has been no report that Azizan slipped or fell into a river which was far from their house or any eyewitness’ account that the boy had gone to the river.
Fadil urged those with information to help in the investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Department is currently helping in the search and rescue efforts, he added.
