Sanusi, who is Perikatan Nasional election director and caretaker Kedah menteri besar, will be charged before judges Osman Affendi Shalleh and Nor Rajiah Mat Zin, according to the court’s e-filing system.
However, Sanusi told Malaysiakini this evening that he had yet to receive any notice to appear before the court. “I haven’t been notified,” he said in a text message, the report said.
FMT has sought a response from Sanusi.
At a recent pre-election ceramah, Sanusi had reportedly drawn a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor sultans, and said the Kedah ruler would not have appointed Amirudin Shari as menteri besar.
He has since apologised for the remarks, which he claimed had been distorted by his political rivals.
Earlier today, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, stated that the issue had yet to be resolved.
Sultan Sharafuddin’s private secretary Munir Bani said the sultan wished to express his appreciation to the members of the council of the Selangor royal court who lodged a police report against Sanusi last Friday.
“This is in response to the remarks made by Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor at a ceramah which were deemed insulting and questioned the credibility of the Selangor royal institution regarding the appointment of the state’s menteri besar,” the statement said.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain was previously reported to have said that the police will continue its investigation into Sanusi’s remarks despite his apology – with 57 police reports lodged about the matter as of Saturday morning.
