PETALING JAYA:
A new man now helms BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) in Malaysia.

The asset management firm announced today that Daniel Choong has replaced Angelia Chin-Sharpe as CEO of its Malaysia operations.

In his new role, Choong will be responsible for accelerating and strengthening the firm’s local business interests as well as drive its sustainable solution offerings.

Just before his move to BNPP AM, Choong was managing director and head of distribution at another fund manager abrdn Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

He has 26 years of experience in the financial services and investment management industry under his belt.

Apart from abrdn, Choong has also played senior roles in various institutions, such as ABN Amro Asset Management in Singapore and Nomura Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

Chin-Sharpe said Choong’s appointment was part of an effort by BNPP AM to reinforce and extend its commitment to sustainable investing in the Asia-Pacific.

“We want to offer our clients the best solutions and services in what is a growth market for BNP Paribas Asset Management,” she said in a brief statement issued to the media today.

Choong will report to Chin-Sharpe, who has been appointed the firm’s CEO in Singapore.
