It seemed inevitable that Scotland would exit Euro 2020 at the group stage. After all, it’s what they do. They have qualified for 11 major international tournaments, yet have remarkably failed to get past the first hurdle in every one of them. Quite a feat. Needing a win against Croatia to end their rotten record, the Scots scored their first goal of the tournament through Celtic’s Callum Mcgregor but crashed out to a Luka Modric masterclass.

FUN FACT: Modric is the youngest and oldest player to score for Croatia at the European Championship.

TONIGHT …

SLOVAKIA vs SPAIN
La Cartuja, Seville, 12am

To keep their record of reaching the knockout stage since 2004 going, Spain must not settle for anything less than a win. La Roja, however, must fight for it as Slovakia have a history of upsetting big footballing nations – they beat Italy 3-2 at the 2010 World Cup.

SWEDEN vs POLAND

Sweden will be confident for this. They are unbeaten in their last seven games against Poland, scoring 18 goals and conceding only thrice. That said, Poland are boosted by main man Robert Lewandowski opening his scoring account against Spain. Expect them to go all out tonight.

GERMANY vs HUNGARY
Allianz Arena, Munich, 3am

Germany can count on the impressive Robin Gosens to cause the Hungarian defence havoc but the visitors are dangerous on counter attacks, as they showed in the 1-1 draw with world champions France. This also marks the first competitive meeting between the nations since the 1954 World Cup final, which Germany – then massive underdogs – won.

PORTUGAL vs FRANCE
Puskas Arena, Budapest, 3am

The last time they met at the Euros, Portugal upset France in Paris to win the 2016 final. Cristiano Ronaldo will be fired up, having never scored against Le Bleus. He is also just two goals shy of Ali Daei’s 109-goal international record. With progress confirmed, Didier Deschamps could let squad players get some minutes on the pitch.
