News portal Thaiger said the man purportedly committed the act due to jealousy and drunkenness, a claim that he denied.
Local police responded to the death of a 53-year-old woman, identified as Luen, who died Monday night with severe injuries to her mouth and face.
Officers found bomb fragments and unused bombs at the scene when they arrived yesterday.
The portal reported that a community leader said Luen’s husband, a 54-year-old man identified as Yon, reported her death but did not call the police immediately.
Yon claimed he found his wife dead on Monday night and suspected that an intruder killed her, but he did not inform the police as he felt it was too dark for them to effectively investigate the death.
Another news outlet, Channel 7, reported Yon as being indifferent during the investigation, while their daughter, Song, accused him of murder.
Neighbours agreed, citing frequent drunken arguments and Yon’s jealousy over Luen’s frequent visits to a temple.
Thaiger reported that locals praised Luen for her kind nature and doubted that anyone would harm her. Theft was ruled out as the family had no valuables.
Police have sent Luen’s body for a post-mortem.
