No junk at this Junk Bookstore

Kuala Lumpur’s largest secondhand bookstore at Tun H S Lee is home to some 300,000 books, many of which are considered rare today.

A glimpse of what’s inside Kuala Lumpur’s largest secondhand bookstore.

Located along Jalan Tun H S Lee, Junk Bookstore is one of Kuala Lumpur’s longest-running secondhand bookstores and is packed to the brim with literary gems, comics, and LPs.

Upon entering the ligneous door, you will be greeted by a warm and cosy ambiance, along with the view of books neatly placed on endless racks.

The three-storey bookstore, operating since 1990, is owned by a couple known as Mr and Mrs Tan. Today, the bookstore that is home to 300,000 exclusive books, is managed by Mrs Tan’s youngest brother, Jeffrey Koh.

Looking at all these books, you probably need to set aside a few hours just for this one visit. You won’t notice the time pass by as you dig deeper into this literary treasure trove as some of the items here are rare books that are truly difficult to find any longer.
