She may have been an abused and injured dog before but Wow Wow has beat the odds and blossomed into a trusting, loving and rather cheeky little poodle-mix.
Speaking with FMT Lifestyle, Oon Khai Chee, 42, said that one of her friends found Wow Wow injured by the roadside from a road accident 11 years ago. The dog was pregnant and badly injured. Needless to say, she lost the puppy in her womb.
Although only intending initially to foster the dog and settle her medical expenses, Oon grew attached to the sweet girl, particularly when she realised that the dog was suffering from severe anxiety.

Realising that Wow Wow’s behavioural issues would make it harder for her to get adopted, Oon decided to keep her instead.
It was a long road to recovery for Wow Wow, who was terrified of strangers and would pee or poop the moment she spotted a stranger in Oon’s home. The poor dog would also shake uncontrollably in fear and cry all night long.
“It took her several years to build trust for us, her new family. But with plenty of love and patience from our side, she slowly opened her heart to us, overcoming her behavioural issues in the process,” Oon said.
Now, at an estimated age of 14, Wow Wow has blossomed into the sweetest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet, a far cry from the scared little girl Oon met all those years ago.

Even though she only has three working legs, it seemed to bother her little, especially when she was younger.
“What touches me the most is that even if she can hardly walk now due to her old age, she never fails to rush to the gate to greet us,” Oon said.
Wow Wow lives with two other dogs, and according to Oon, the poodle is the bossiest of the lot.
“She can be quite bothersome to my two other dogs sometimes, in a way she’s sort of like the bossy youngest child out of the three,” Oon said, laughing good-naturedly.

When it comes to affection, Wow Wow isn’t shy to let her need for attention be known. This includes asking to be petted and sleeping near her human’s feet in order to be as close to them as possible.
“Due to her age, Wow Wow’s energy is diminishing day by day. Perhaps she’s nearing the end of her journey, but the joy that she has brought into my family’s life can’t be measured, and I would’ve made the same decision to adopt her all those years ago without a second thought.”
