TikTok Shop has wrapped up its 2024 collaboration with The National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (TEKUN), with 500 traditional sellers from across the country given the skills and tools needed to thrive in the digital commerce space.

The collaboration between TikTok Shop and TEKUN extended to four different locales across Malaysia, namely Kuala Penyu (Sabah), Penang, Kuala Langat, and Hulu Langat (Selangor).

In these locations, TikTok Shop organised two-day workshops (Bengkel Memperkasa Usahawan TEKUN), activation campaigns, livestream competitions, social media promotions, and matchmaking sessions for affiliate creators to provide sellers with experience and exposure

On average, the collaboration helped sellers to experience significant business gains, including a 245% growth in livestream selling sessions with a 332% increase in streaming duration compared to before the start of the programme.

The sellers also showed a 227 times increase in short video uploads after going through workshops, a 184 times boost in sales for local product sellers within four months and 221,000 items sold with a 174% rise in demand across four campaigns.

Throughout 2024, the strategic partnership received 84 million impressions and over 20 million viewers for its social media posts, while its four on-ground carnivals saw over 40,000 visitors. These were gained through a combination of livestream showcases, offline activities, and 30 local creator promotions.

As a result of this partnership, notable seller success stories include Shiffa Curry Powder, which managed to secure the Jaguh Lokal TikTok Shop award; Cekupala Empire, which experienced a 933% sales increase; Lala Mislovy, which enjoyed a 147% live session growth, and Frisha Classic Desserts, which achieved a 300% increase in video views.

This partnership showcases the upsides of collaboration in driving economic growth and equipping sellers for success in the digital age.

As TikTok Shop and TEKUN continue their joint efforts for 2025, entrepreneurs can look forward to further support and initiatives aimed at empowering local businesses in the e-commerce space.
