The Teddy Café & Restaurant opened seven years ago and has been offering diners a respite from their everyday woes with their brand of mouthwatering food and heartwarming décor.
Giant, smiley teddy bears with outstretched arms warmly welcome you and if you’re in the mood for a bear-hug, just reach over and give one a tight squeeze.

Instagrammers will have a field day here as loveable, huggable bears are found in every nook and cranny – sitting on chairs, painted on walls and even appearing on your plate.
Ever found yourself saying “too cute to eat”? That aptly sums up most of the food offerings here.
Even the full-bodied and delicious Earl Grey Coffee is adorned with foamy teddy bears smiling at you while the thick and creamy Authentic Mushroom Soup – with chunks of mushroom inside – is served with a garlic butter bun resembling a teddy bear’s face.

Most customers here tend to tuck into the wide selection of burgers, and FMT had the chance to try the crowd-favourite, Grilled Chicken Burger.
Served with a generous portion of fries, the burger is certainly gorgeous to look at, though the “bear” bun seems quite nonplussed about its imminent consumption.

Taste-wise, the burger will satisfy most, with the meat patty grilled to tender perfection while still retaining its juicy goodness.
If rice is your preferred choice of carb, the Mushroom Chicken Chop will delight you no end. And living up to the teddy bear theme of the café, the rice is served in the shape of a teddy bear, so remember to capture a few shots first before tucking in.

While the mains offered in The Teddy Café are certainly worth trying out, most visitors drop by for a spot of dessert, in particular their Waffle Desserts.
But don’t be surprised if you’re struggling on whether to eat or not. Why? Because even the desserts are just too dainty and delicate to dig your spoon into!
Teddy on Party 2 is one such ‘cute as a button’ dessert. It features two waffles coated with salted caramel and chocolate sauce, topped with Nutella crumbs and mixed nuts.
If you have a sweet-tooth, this delight is perfect for one, but it can easily be shared by two. Definitely the sort of treat you would order if you’re with a special someone.

Speaking to FMT, co-owner Ryan Low revealed that the idea for the teddy bear theme was his wife’s, Emma Soo.
“She loves teddies! My house has lots of soft toys, like teddy bears,” he said. Realising that no other café in Malaysia was themed around the famous plush toy, the couple took a leap of faith.

“Kelana Jaya is quite a quiet place, unlike SS2 or Uptown, so it helps that we stand out with our adorable designs and desserts.”
With the pandemic ebbing, business has picked up significantly, said Low, and on weekends, it is advisable to make reservations before swinging by.
So, whether you’re looking for an Instagrammable spot, or just want a unique dining experience, The Teddy Café & Restaurant might be just the place.
After all, there’s more cuteness and sweetness here than one can…bear.
