Lee, who has been conferred the title of “Datuk”, arrived at the Miri Airport at 11.15am today from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
He had been detained in Fujian, China, by Chinese authorities on Monday. Malaysian police flew to China to escort him home.
According to the charge sheet, Lee, together with Lie Chang Loon, 39, Chin Wui Chung, 50 and another individual still at large, had abetted in commissioning Mohamad Fitri Pauzi, 29, to murder Kayong.
No plea was recorded. The court fixed Dec 30 for mention.
Kayong, who fought for native land rights in Sarawak, was gunned down on June 21 at a traffic light junction in Kuala Baram.
It was earlier reported that Lee had flown to Singapore from Miri on June 23, two days after Kayong was murdered, and had stayed in Australia.
The alleged shooter, Fitri, along with Lie and Chin, have since been charged.
