PETALING JAYA:
Lim Kit Siang says he has never harboured hopes of becoming prime minister.

Speaking at a public meeting in Kulai today, the DAP adviser and Gelang Patah MP also denied he wanted to use Pakatan Harapan to become PM.

“It never crossed my mind to become PM. It is unthinkable.

“On top of that, do you believe that former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who held the position for about 22 years, is also my puppet?

“We have our own principles. Why should we become other people’s puppet?” Star Online reported him as saying.

Umno leaders had previously said that Kit Siang was Pakatan Harapan’s de facto leader and that he “calls the shots” in the coalition.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan had asked Kit Siang to “make a stand” to retire from politics, saying his long stay in DAP had prevented potential leaders like Dr Tan Seng Giaw from shining.
