Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee ordered Tan Kok Wai (DAP-Cheras) to leave the house after the MP refused to obey his directive to sit down.
Earlier, Tan had demanded that Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan retract his accusation and challenged him to repeat the allegation outside the Dewan Rakyat.
“I will not sit down unless the deputy minister retracts his baseless claim,” he said.
But Loga refused to repeat his claim outside the Dewan Rakyat and said the allegation was based on public perception.
“I am not accusing Cheras. If I’m wrong, I will retract what I said. I just said this is the perception of many.”
Kiandee sided with Bala, saying he believed the deputy minister had not accused Tan of anything.
This angered Tan, who insisted that Bala had slandered him and ignored the order to sit down until he was removed.
Later, during a press conference, Tan said this was the first time he had been asked to exit from the Dewan.
“I feel the decision lacks justice. I have no intention to challenge the speaker’s decision but I wanted a fair decision.”
He said it was baseless for Dr Loga to take a swipe at him for cronyism and claiming there were many illegal gambling dens in Cheras using his name.
Tan said the statement was said with ill intentions and hoped the statement would be retracted.
