
He warned against accepting politicians who have “no value, echoing statements by PH leaders in the wake of an exodus of Umno MPs and assemblymen.
“I appeal to those who are overzealous in courting ex-Umno leaders to join PPBM to be careful and prevent the party from becoming a cheap party.
“This process will weaken the spirit of present members, especially the young ones.
“Remember, while they may have left Umno to join or support us, they were once our political enemies. Now they want to join us because their party is in shambles. Whose fault is it if not their own?” he asked in a blog posting today.
He reminded PH that its own leaders and members should be prioritised although there could ex-Umno members who were sincere.
“We must take good care of our own people before we even consider taking in those who knock on our doors only after we have won.”
Last week, 10 Umno MPs announced their departure from Umno, alongside several assemblymen in Sabah. It fueled speculation that former ruling party would be left crippled before the year-end.
Kadir said Umno was now in a critical stage, and needed a “transfusion”.
“Let us not even talk about Barisan Nasional. Umno is too weak to care about it, while MCA wants it to be abolished,” he added.
