CAMERON HIGHLANDS:
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim today said Pakatan Harapan (PH) does not engage in money politics like Barisan Nasional (BN) when campaigning for support.

Addressing about 200 Orang Asli from the Pos Betau community in Tanah Rata, he said the voters in Cameron Highlands must believe, and be confident, the government would channel allocations as soon as its candidate was given the mandate in the by-election.

‘’I thank you all for coming. I can only give you my assurance. We don’t campaign like BN — give money when the general election approaches and then disappear for five years.

‘’I did not give money when campaigning in the Port Dickson parliamentary by-election recently. As soon as I won, the ministers came down and projects followed,” he said.

Also present were Pahang PKR chairman Fuziah Salleh, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, PH candidate M Manogaran and Orang Asli senator Bob Manolan Mohamad

Anwar urged the Orang Asli at Pos Betau to have confidence that Manogaran will bring changes to their lives.

“The BN government has ruled for a long time. Look at the way of life of the Orang Asli. I don’t say there is no change at all, but the changes have not been much.

‘’It is our responsibility to make sure communities are not marginalised.

‘’I am confident Manogaran will take up the problems on behalf of all the people.’’

Later, Anwar held a 15-minute closed dialogue with Orang Asli village heads before meeting the Orang Asli community at Pos Sinderut and holding a ceramah in Sungai Koyan at night.
