PETALING JAYA:
More than 100 participants were at a business conference held at a Singapore hotel attended by Malaysia’s first case of coronavirus infection, the republic’s health ministry said yesterday.

Channel News Asia (CNA) reported that of the 109 attendees at the Grand Hyatt, 15 were Singaporeans while the rest were foreigners, including several from China.

Malaysia’s health ministry confirmed the first case of coronavirus infection earlier this week involving a 41-year-old Malaysian.

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said the Malaysian, from Selangor, had travelled to Singapore to attend a conference from Jan 16 to 23.

The meeting was also related to two confirmed cases in South Korea who had attended the same conference.

According to CNA, a spokesman for the hotel said the premises had been deep-cleaned and they were not aware of any more cases involving other hotel guests or staff.
