SHAH ALAM:
Hasnita Mohd Rosli, the mother of four whose story of battling a rare form of cancer was highlighted by FMT two years ago, died on Feb 4. She was 42.

She leaves behind husband Adi Asral Abdul Rashid, their 14-year-old daughter, seven-year-old twin boys, and six-year-old son.

She died on World Cancer Day, which is observed on Feb 4 every year to raise global awareness of cancer.

In an interview with FMT in March 2018, Hasnita who was busy juggling a successful career with family life, spoke of her fight against two rounds of cancer.

Hasnita said she had made more friends since being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in 2017, than in the past two decades.

The IT consultant had battled a relapse of an extremely rare form of cancer which spread to her bones, making it excruciatingly painful to remain seated for long.

Months earlier, she had recovered from a high-grade neuroendocrine breast carcinoma, which afflicts only 0.3% of the world’s population.

She had told FMT then how her children had to be sent elsewhere to live while she underwent eight months of treatment, but six months after being reunited with them, she was delivered the devastating news that she had Stage 4 breast cancer.

Hasnita said she found the strength to deal with the news with the help of her loving husband, family members and close friends.

“I’ve met more friends in the last few months that I have not seen in the past 20 years.

“After cancer, I’ve become closer to God and instead of crying, you do things which matter and this gives you some inner peace,” she had told FMT.

Hasnita also shared her sadness at having to leave her young children eventually, who at that time were only told that “mummy is sick”.

“I still can’t imagine leaving them. I have to think of how to prepare them for when I’m no longer around.

“I hope they will remember that their mummy loves them, that mummy always prays for the best for them, and that mummy is always in their hearts, their biggest cheerleader.”

May God place her soul among the righteous.
