Ahmad, a non-member of the assembly, was nominated as speaker after the 2018 general election.
Juhari Bulat (PPBM-Ayer Hangat), previously the deputy speaker, was installed as the new speaker after his name was proposed by Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (PAS-Jeneri) and seconded by Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail (PPBM-Guar Chempedak) at the state assembly sitting today.
The menteri besar’s proposal to name Juhari as speaker received 21 votes from the 36-member assembly.
The new deputy speaker is Ahmad Fadzli Hashim (PAS-Pantai Merdeka), who was nominated for the post.
The current government bench comprises 15 PAS members, six PPBM members and two Umno members.
The opposition bench comprises five members from PKR, four from Amanah, two from DAP and two independents.
