“Decided to test yesterday in KL for prudence after cases spiked as I had been campaigning in Sabah.
“Just received (a) call and will be taken in today.”
Shahril also apologised for the inconvenience caused to people who came into contact with him.
He is the second Umno leader to have tested positive for Covid-19 this week after Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Razlan Rafii was admitted to hospital when his first test returned positive, said a party source on Monday.
Sabah has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases over the past week, with 60 new cases reported yesterday.
The state, which will hold its election on Saturday, has recorded 1,189 positive cases.
