JOHOR BAHRU:
The driver of a Perodua Myvi who caused the death of a navy man in an accident was sentenced to six years and seven months’ jail and fined RM11,300 at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Nur Fatin Nasrah, 23, pleaded guilty to four charges under the Road Transport Act 1987 read before magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin and one charge under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, read before magistrate R Salini.

Her first charge was for driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs and she was given a six-year prison sentence and a fine of RM8,000.

Nur Fatin was also instructed to pay an additional RM3,300 for not possessing a driving licence and driving a vehicle without a road permit or insurance.

She was also barred from driving for six years for all four offences.

Her fiance, Nurulaiman Fathi Mohd Zukki, 23, was also ordered to pay RM3,300 for allowing his vehicle to be driven by a person without a driving licence and for not possessing road tax or insurance after he pleaded guilty to all three offences.

He will face a 13-month prison sentence if he fails to pay the fine.

In a separate court, Nur Fatin pleaded guilty to consuming and administering a dangerous drug. She was punished with seven months’ in prison on top of the six-year sentence for her traffic offences.

On Saturday morning, the Myvi driven by Nur Fatin crashed into a Honda Accord driven by Mohd Rizal Buseri, 31, who died at the scene.

Also injured in the accident was Chang Ah May, 78, the driver of a Proton Iswara.
