The Rantau Panjang, SSP1, SSP2 and SSP3 treatment plants have been forced to shut down operations again after a solvent-like odour was detected.

PETALING JAYA:
Several water treatment plants were forced to stop operations again today after another case of odour pollution was detected in Sungai Selangor.

The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) said the Rantau Panjang, SSP1, SSP2 and SSP3 treatment plants were forced to halt operations at various times between 12.20pm and 12.45pm after a solvent-like odour was detected.

The odour pollution had recorded a reading of eight TON (threshold odour number). Checks by LUAS at 6am in the same area had not recorded any pollution.

“LUAS, Air Selangor and the relevant parties are conducting investigations and taking immediate mitigative action.

“Any updates will be informed from time to time,” it said in a Facebook post.
