
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,123 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 86,715.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 108,615.
There are 21,443 active cases with 117 patients being treated in intensive care and 55 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the two deaths takes the toll to 457.
The two deaths were both Malaysians, a 65-year-old man from Putrajaya and a 68-year-old woman from Kelantan. Both had pre-existing conditions.
Selangor continued to record the highest number of cases with 747 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 360 and Pahang with 288.
Noor Hisham said 625 of the cases in Selangor came from active close-contact screenings being carried out on the field and existing clusters.
Meanwhile, the spike in Covid-19 cases in Pahang was largely due to the new Tembok Mempaga prison cluster, which recorded 282 cases in the last 24 hours.
On cases in the other states, Noor Hisham said Sabah reported 230 cases in the last 24 hours, while Johor reported 110, and Negeri Sembilan reported 60.
Meanwhile, Penang reported 57 cases followed by Kelantan (31), Perak (17), Melaka (9), Kedah (8), Sarawak (4), Terengganu (2) and Putrajaya (2).
Perlis and Labuan did not report any new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
Some 307 cases today were related to prison and immigration depot clusters, namely the Tembok Mempaga (282), Jalan Harapan prison (9), Tembok Gajah (9), Tembok (3), Pagar Siput (3) and GK Tawau (1) clusters.
There were 10 imported cases reported.
