He said since Sarawak is politically stable, rich in resources with a well-managed economy that has created various jobs and business opportunities, many are interested in taking over the state government.

“But, people shouldn’t forget that only a good government can ensure sustainable economic growth. A government that really cares about the interests of the people and is committed to fighting for more state rights listed under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“When we say we want to have more rights, it doesn’t mean that we want to be independent. But to restore what was eroded over the years,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Batu Kawah Sports, Community and Innovative Hub here today.

“I know some quarters are trying to influence and disunite the people, who have been standing firm behind us (GPS government). However, I am confident the people are also aware that only a coalition with groomed and trained leadership is able to lead Sarawak to greater heights.”

Meanwhile, he said the first phase of the autonomous rail transit system, connecting Kuching and Samarahan is expected to be completed by 2025.

He said the second phase starts from 2025 to 2030, which will be extended to Batu Kawah, Bau and Sematan.

“This is to ensure efficiency and sustainability of the state’s public transport system and to resolve traffic issues in the major cities in the state,” he said.
