The villages are Kampung Binyu Baru in Samarahan and Kampung Binyu Lama in Kuching.
Ismail, in a statement today, said four Covid-19 infections were reported in Kampung Binyu Baru and 57 in Kampung Binyu Lama.
He said both villages will be under EMCO from April 4 to 17, adding that the decision was made based on the health ministry’s advice.
“The EMCO will curb movement and stop the spread of the virus.”
Ismail also said six people were detained yesterday for failing to follow Covid-19 rules, with five slapped with compound fines and one currently under remand.
Three were arrested for failing to register their personal data before entering shops or offices, two for crossing borders without permission and one for not wearing a face mask.
Enforcement teams also arrested an illegal immigrant, five suspected smugglers and seized three vehicles. A boat was prevented from entering Malaysian waters illegally.
Ismail said 1,422 people who entered Malaysia through the country’s various borders yesterday were placed under quarantine.
He added that six of the 1,260 foreign workers tested yesterday were found positive for the virus.
So far, the government has tested 671,148 foreign workers and 10,142 were found to be positive for Covid-19.
