Speaking to FMT, Vigneswaran asked: “Who’s the one that’s hasty? Who’s the one that sent a letter to the King in support of Anwar? If he’s bold enough, before he calls us hasty, he should ask his president who was the one that sent a letter to the Agong supporting Anwar as prime minister.”
The MIC leader’s remarks follow a statement by Puad cautioning the MIC and MCA – which together with Umno form the Barisan Nasional – against being too hasty in finding “new comrades”, alluding to Perikatan Nasional.
Vigneswaran said: “Ask him who decided (to support Anwar). Was it Barisan Nasional’s or Umno’s decision? If it was neither, then whose decision was it?”
Vigneswaran said the MIC’s decision to continue supporting Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration until Parliament was dissolved was no different from Umno’s stand on the matter.
Meanwhile, MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon described Puad’s statement as potentially damaging to their partnership in BN.
He urged Umno to discipline the former deputy minister.
