Police received a call just before 9.40am, and videos of the incident showed people attempting to free the individual.
Earlier reports had said there were at least two occupants in the car, and rescuers said they were unable to immediately confirm the number, as the tree trunk had fallen diagonally across the vehicle, above the front seats.
A member of the Fire and Rescue Department team later said only one person – the 53-year-old driver – was involved.
The uprooted tree blocked traffic on the busy road which leads to Van Praagh Road and Jalan Lenggong.

Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong urged the Penang Island City Council to investigate the incident, saying the tree was transplanted there during a road widening project about three years ago.
He wondered how the tree could have uprooted since the council conducted stringent checks and asset tagging of old trees.
