Neelofa and family fined RM60,000 for breaching SOPs

The fines are in connection with her wedding and interstate travel.

PETALING JAYA:
Celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor, better known as Neelofa, her husband and 20 family members have been fined by police for breaching Covid-19 SOPs at her wedding and for interstate travel.

She will be fined RM20,000 and her husband, Haris Ismail, RM10,000, with no discounts allowed.

Meanwhile, 20 other family members will be fined RM1,500 each, making up a total of RM30,000.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the fines were being meted out under Regulation 19 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (Conditional Movement Control) (No. 4) 2021 Regulations.

He advised the public to continue to comply with the SOPs under the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

The actress-turned-entrepreneur married televangelist Haris Ismail, better known as PU Riz in an elaborate ceremony at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on March 27.

Zainal had previously said the police probe found that the wedding ceremony failed to comply with SOPs, while social distancing was not observed.

Neelofa has since apologised for the breach of SOPs at her wedding and for visiting Langkawi despite interstate travel being prohibited.
