Mior Nor Haidir Suhaimi said a thorough probe is needed into claims that Hamzah Zainudin interfered in police affairs.

PETALING JAYA:
Pejuang has called for a thorough investigation into the inspector-general of police’s claim that the home minister had interfered in police matters, as calls for action to be taken over Abdul Hamid Bador’s explosive claims increase.

The party’s lawyer, Mior Nor Haidir Suhaimi, said the government should consider setting up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to address this issue raised by the outgoing inspector-general of police.

“And throughout the probe, Hamzah Zainudin should be suspended from duties to prevent any interference,” he said in a statement.

Yesterday, Hamid had spoken out against Hamzah’s interference in police matters.

This came after Hamzah confirmed that he was the person in a leaked recording of a conversation on the reshuffle of the police force.

Hamid alleged that Hamzah had been pushing to get power to determine where certain police officers should be placed.

Mior said the political interference in the transfer of top officers in the force was an abuse of power.

Earlier, the National Patriots Association had called on Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to sack Hamzah for “his insult, insolence and disregard for statutory functions of the police force”.
