Record high 24 new Covid-19 clusters, mostly involving workplaces, community

The health ministry has detected a record high 24 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The previous high was 22 clusters yesterday.

In a statement, he said nine of them were workplace clusters, seven were community clusters, six were linked to religious gatherings and the remaining two were linked to a high-risk group and the education sector, respectively.

The clusters were detected in Selangor, Johor, Penang, Sabah, Melaka, Kedah, Sarawak, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

Terengganu

  • Tok Dor: a high-risk group cluster. It involves Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Besut. The index case was detected on May 16. 63 screened, 25 tested positive.

Kelantan

  • Kandis: an educational institution cluster. It involves Bachok. The index case was detected on May 12. 48 screened, 25 tested positive.

Johor

  • Jalan Makasar: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kluang. The index case was detected on May 17. 36 screened, 27 tested positive.
  • Taman Maju Jaya: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Batu Pahat. The index case was detected on May 17. 64 screened, 12 tested positive.
  • Jalan Perwira Lapan: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on May 3. 108 screened, 18 tested positive.

Kedah

  • Dah Insun: a community cluster. It involves Pendang and Kuala Muda. The index case was detected on May 15. 284 screened, 35 tested positive.
  • Dah Berapit: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Kuala Muda and Kulim. The index case was detected on May 14. 61 screened, 36 tested positive.

Melaka

  • Bukit Tempayan: a workplace cluster linked to a public administration center. It involves Melaka Tengah. The index case was detected on May 10. 62 screened, 11 tested positive.
  • Jalan Dato Dol Said: a workplace cluster linked to a public administration centre. It involves Alor Gajah and Jasin. The index case was detected on April 28. 136 screened, 27 tested positive.
  • Batu Lapan Bukit Rambai: a community cluster. It involves Melaka Tengah and Jasin. The index case was detected on May 3. 30 screened, 12 tested positive.

Sarawak

  • Kenyalang Park: a community cluster. It involves Kuching and Samarahan. The index case was detected on May 13. 65 screened, 27 tested positive.
  • Kampung Tebakang: a community cluster. It involves Serian. The index case was detected on May 9. 78 screened, 18 tested positive.

Penang

  • Padang Lalang Dua: a community cluster. It involves Seberang Perai Tengah. The index case was detected on May 20. 26 screened, 10 tested positive.
  • Jalan Kampung Juru: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan. 201 screened, 12 tested positive.
  • Teknologi Juru: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Seberang Perai Tengah. 108 screened, 20 tested positive.

Sabah

  • Jalan Kretam Silimpopon: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Kalabakan. The index case was detected on May 8. 142 screened, 42 tested positive.
  • Jalan Pengalat Lok Kawi: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Papar and Kota Kinabalu. The index case was detected on May 20. 71 screened, 16 tested positive.
  • Jalan Tun Fuad: a workplace cluster linked to a construction site. It involves Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan. The index case was detected on May 16. 641 screened, 11 tested positive.
  • Lorong Karamunsing: a workplace cluster linked to business premises. It involves Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang and Tuaran. The index case was detected on 11 May. 106 screened, 28 tested positive.

Selangor

  • Jalan Iskandar: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Klang. 22 screened, 13 tested positive.
  • Taman Sri Muda: a cluster linked to religious activity. It involves Klang. 28 screened, 16 tested positive.
  • Jalan Bunga Azalea: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Hulu Selangor. 55 screened, 11 tested positive.

Pahang

  • Jalan Dara: a community cluster linked to a social gathering. It involves Maran. The index case was detected on May 17. 20 screened, 11 tested positive.
  • Sri Tanjung: a community cluster. It involves Bentong. The index case was detected on May 19. 47 screened, 17 tested positive.
