EMCO announced for several areas in Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang

In Sabah, parts of Kudat, Tawau and Penampang will come under the enhanced movement control order from June 5-18 after 116 new cases were reported.

Several areas in three Sabah districts will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 5 to 18 after a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Kampung Pengaraban in Kudat will be under an EMCO after eight of the 24 tests conducted among residents there returned positive, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement.

In Tawau, Taman Milenium, Taman Wawasan, Taman Semarak and Kampung Jawa Kongsi 10 will all be placed under EMCO after 96 positive cases were detected.

In Penampang, Kampung Sugud will be placed under EMCO after 12 of the 29 tests there returned positive.

Meanwhile in Sarawak, the Sigah anak Lak longhouse in Sungai Baoh Burak in Dalat, Mukah, will be under EMCO after 37 cases were detected following 87 tests, making for a positivity rate of 42.53%.

In Pahang, the Chin Teck farm in Muadzam Shah, Rompin, will be under EMCO after 12 cases were detected following 223 screenings.

Ismail also announced an extension of EMCOs in Kelantan and Terengganu from tomorrow to June 18 as Covid-19 cases are still being detected in the areas.

Apart from Kelantan’s Tumpat islands, the EMCO in 15 subdistricts in Besut, Terengganu, will also be extended for another two weeks.

Ismail also said the EMCO at the Pelagat 3 low-cost public flats in Besut will come to an end tomorrow after a decrease in cases.

In Kelantan, the EMCO at Kampung Terusan in Limbat, Pasir Tumboh, will also come to an end tomorrow.

The EMCO in two areas in Sabah – Kampung Indani, Semporna, and Kampung Pisang, Tawau – will also end tomorrow after a decrease in cases.

In Pahang, the EMCO at the Kuala Teh housing complex in Jerantut will come to a close tomorrow.

In Perak, the EMCO in the subdistricts of Taiping, Pengkalan Hulu, Hulu Kinta, Hulu Bernam Timur, Bagan Serai and Parit Buntar will also end tomorrow.

In Sarawak, the EMCO at Kampung Boyan, Kuching will draw to an end tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Ismail said police arrested 987 people for breaching MCO rules yesterday. Of that number, 939 were fined while 47 were remanded.

Among the offences were failure to wear a face mask (218), travelling across districts or states without permission (196) and failure to record their personal details or to check in with the MySejahtera app (135).

The authorities also detained 11 undocumented migrants and seized one vehicle as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign yesterday.

On mandatory quarantine, Ismail said 217,526 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to June 2 and were placed under quarantine.

Some 2,315 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 206,348 have been allowed to return home.

Some 8,863 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
