EMCO lockdown at Cameron Highlands, Jerantut and five areas in Sabah

Kepayan prison in Kota Kinabalu (18 cases), factory and quarters (29 cases) and three villages also affected.

The EMCO will run from June 28 until July 11.

Five localities in Sabah and two in Pahang will go under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 28 until July 11, said senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The areas are:

  • Bandar Jerantut (186 cases) and Tringkap in Cameron Highlands (70), both in Pahang;
  • Kepayan prison in Kota Kinabalu (18 cases), the Bell palm oil factory and workers’ quarters in Kinabatangan (29), Kampung Tuunon in Penampang (8), Kampung Perpaduan Ria 1 in Kudat (9) and Kampung Jawi-Jawi in Kota Belud (12), all in Sabah.

On other EMCO areas, he said the EMCO at Kampung Tawadakan and Kampung Kota Bungan in Kota Belud, Sabah will be extended until July 11.

However, the EMCO at several other localities in Sabah such as Kampung Indah in Nabawan, Kampung Manggis in Kuala Penyu, Kampung Baru (SFI) in Sipitang, Taman Kinabutan Ria and Simpang Inderasabah in Tawau, and also Kampung Sundang Laut in Sandakan will end at 11.59 pm tomorrow.

The EMCO at Sungai Ikan, Blue Valley, Taman Matahari Cerah, Taman Desa Corina and Kampung Baru Kampung Raja in Cameron Highlands, Pahang will also end tomorrow.

735 arrests for MCO offences

Ismail said police arrested 735 people yesterday, 705 of whom were fined and 30 more remanded.

Among the offences were not wearing face-masks (143), failure to record personal details or check in with MySejahtera (149), crossing district and state borders without police permission/dining in (153), flouting physical-distancing rules (130), not complying to movement control order regulations (41), going beyond the car passenger limit (50), activities at entertainment outlets (10), premises going against SOPs (8), and others (51).

Ismail also said enforcement had ordered five factories and ten premises to close during checks on June 25. In relation to this, there were 12 people arrested for going against SOPs.
