The circular, signed by Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin, said the postponement was made by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin in accordance with the Standing Orders and was in line with risk analysis by the health ministry following a recent Covid-19 outbreak in Parliament.
Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the postponement in a tweet.
However, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is MP for Bagan, said this evening that the party had directed all its 42 MPs to be present at the Parliament building at 10am on Monday.
In a statement, he accused Muhyiddin of gross interference in the affairs of the legislature and of trying to avoid a vote in the House. He also questioned why the Speaker, Azhar Azizan Harun, had delegated to his deputy the task of communicating with MPs.
Nizam said he was instructed by deputy speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon to inform all MPs that the Dewan Rakyat will not sit on Monday.
It was earlier reported that 56 Covid-19 cases had been detected in Parliament.
Chaos erupted in Parliament on Thursday after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong revealed in a statement that he had not given his approval for the emergency ordinances to be revoked, as announced by de facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.
Subsequently, proceedings in the House were suspended four times before finally being adjourned, supposedly until Monday.
