Salleh Said Keruak said this is due to voting for the new prime minister “through political parties en bloc”.
“It seems we are going through another process of voting for a new PM based on party choices,” he said in a Facebook post this morning.
“Again, this means it becomes a battle of numbers with probably another slim majority.”
Salleh said he hoped for new “governance”, instead of a “mere political solution” to the current impasse.
“Let us wait for the decision by the YDPA (Yang di-Pertuan Agong),” he said.
The MPs are expected to submit their choice for the prime minister to Istana Negara by 4pm today.
Last night, Barisan Nasional MPs said they had unanimously agreed to name Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob as their prime minister candidate.
However, Warisan president Shafie Apdal’s name has also been thrown into the mix as a possible candidate, along with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
