Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has reminded the prime minister that Malaysia has always been a ‘family’ as far as PKR is concerned.

PETALING JAYA:
PKR has called on Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to prove his concept of Malaysian Family with action, or it may remain questionable and “rhetoric” under Umno, a Malay-based political party.

Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said unlike PKR, which is a multiracial party, the Malaysian Family concept under Umno may not reflect the realities on the ground.

He also said Malaysia has been a “family”, even before the term was used.

He was referring to Ismail’s inaugural speech, pitching for all MPs to set aside their differences and work together to save the Malaysian Family. Ismail said the Malaysian Family is more inclusive and cuts across racial and religious boundaries.

Nik Nazmi reminded Ismail that PKR under Anwar Ibrahim has been a progressive and a multiracial party.

“We will continue to remain a multiracial party,” he said, adding that PKR will champion development and governance through the Malaysian economic agenda by putting the rakyat first.

“PKR has proven to hold to its meaning. So, it is now up to the prime minister to do the same,” he said.
