In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,426,050 cases.
There were 620 patients in intensive care, 533 of whom were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive and 87 were suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 297 patients required respiratory assistance, with 229 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 68 suspected to be positive.
There were 5,821 local infections today, comprising 5,564 Malaysians and 257 foreigners. There were also seven imported cases.
Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 1.7% of the patients were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.87, with Kuala Lumpur having the highest R-nought level of 1.02. This was followed by Negeri Sembilan with 0.98
All other states recorded R-noughts of less than 1.00 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero.
