ALOR SETAR:
Menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been conferred the “Dato’ Sri Paduka Mahkota Kedah” (SPMK) award, which carries the title “Datuk Seri”, by the Kedah Sultan.

According to an aide to Sanusi, the award was gazetted today. The award was given in celebration of Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah’s 79th birthday.

The SPMK, one of the highest honours conferred by Kedah, is given to only 20 living persons at any one time.

It is given by the Sultan to those in high positions and standing, and well-known for their excellence in the performance of their duties, the aide said.

Sanusi, the Jeneri assemblyman, was sworn-in as menteri besar on May 17, 2020, following the resignation of Mukhriz Mahathir.

He is PAS’ election director and Sik division chief.
