PBK president Voon Lee Shan says the party’s vision is for Sarawak’s independence from the federation.

PETALING JAYA:
The fledgling Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has promised voters a RM3,000 “special hardship relief fund” if the party wins the Sarawak state elections.

According to a report by Dayak Daily, PBK president Voon Lee Shan said that this was one of nine missions it has outlined if it wins the elections.

Other promises include deposit subsidies for first-time home buyers, purchase subsidies for first-time buyers of motor vehicles, pocket money and medical grants for the poor, free tertiary education, agricultural land allocations for small and medium enterprise (SME) farmers, water, electricity and internet services to all homes and homes for all Sarawakians.

Voon also said the party’s vision was for the independence of Sarawak from Malaysia and to restore it as an independent nation through peaceful means.

“Strategies to achieve this include seeking a peaceful exit from the Federation of Malaysia like what was done by Singapore, leading to a unilateral declaration of independence by the PBK government,” he said.

He also said another way was to seek a court declaration that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) was invalid.

PBK is contesting in the Sarawak elections for the first time, and fielding candidates for 73 out of the 82 seats.
