PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir said he was told to show up at the Putrajaya police district headquarters tomorrow to be questioned.
Also summoned were Batu MP P Prabakaran, PKR Youth vice-chief S Thiban and its secretary, Syukri Razab.
In a statement, Akmal said they were being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
“While we will fully cooperate with the police, any intimidation against whistleblowers or groups calling for action needs to be stopped immediately. Instead, Azam should go on leave until a thorough probe is held,” he said.
Akmal said PKR Youth would continue to call for action on the matter until Putrajaya and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob took the issue more seriously.
The Johor Bahru MP also said the youth wing would be submitting a “people’s memorandum” in front of Parliament when it holds a one-day special sitting on Jan 20.
About 50 PKR Youth members took part in the convoy in protest against Azam, who is embroiled in a controversy over ownership of corporate shares, and had handed over a memorandum upon reaching the MACC headquarters.
The wing wanted Azam to resign from his job and an open and independent investigation carried out.
