BAM had announced the ban last week after Zii Jia submitted his resignation from the national squad.
“As the custodian of national badminton interest, BAM is looking into the matter with great urgency to find an amicable resolve,” the association said.
They added that the actions of the BAM council to ban Zii Jia were based on official procedures with the information that was presented to them but said that the decision was not without “avenues of appeal”.
Sports minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu said he had met Zii Jia today to hear the national No 1’s views. “What is certain is that Zii Jia’s spirit and commitment to the national sport of badminton remains strong,” he said in a Twitter post.
Zii Jia is currently ranked No 7 in the world by the Badminton World Federation but the ban has cast doubts over his future in the sport.
