The landslip that occurred in Lestari Perdana yesterday evening, causing five cars to plunge into a storm water drain.

PETALING JAYA:
Seventeen commercial premises in Lestari Perdana near Seri Kembangan, Serdang, where a landslip occurred yesterday, have been ordered to stop operations temporarily.

The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) said the directive was issued by Serdang district police chief AA Anbalagan on the advice of the MBSJ engineering department and the fire and rescue department.

“Vehicles parked in the area should immediately be moved to a safer place,” said MBSJ’s corporate and strategic management department deputy director, Azfarizal Abdul Rashid, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, the ground surrounding a storm water drain in the area collapsed at about 6.40pm, causing five vehicles to plunge into the drain. No one was hurt.

“The rain at the time caused the drain to burst and the soil beneath began to subside, causing the five cars to fall 5m to 6m,” said Serdang fire and rescue department officer Saharudin Abdul Razak.

He said the vehicles were parked in front of a workshop near a ridge where the landslip occurred.

Saharudin said a similar incident had occurred in the same area in 2017, about 50m from yesterday’s location.
