Her lawyer, SN Nair, said she was being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA), based on two reports lodged.
“Police took an hour to record her statement. Her reply to all their questions was ‘I will answer in court’,” he told FMT.
Earlier today, about 40 supporters gathered to show support for Kok outside the Brickfields police station. Police told the supporters to adhere to physical distancing.
Meanwhile, Kok said police had been “efficient” in probing the #TangkapAzamBaki rally, pointing out that the authorities had summoned more than 30 people to record their statements.
“We hope they can apply this ‘efficiency’ to Azam’s case as well. We won’t need to hold any more gatherings then,” she added.
Kok was among the Pakatan Harapan representatives spotted during the #TangkapAzamBaki rally on Jan 22.
Civil society organisations and political youth wings held the rally in protest against the conduct of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki and to call for his arrest.
The Tangkap Azam Baki Action Committee initially planned to gather outside Sogo at 11am to demand that Azam be arrested immediately and for legal action to be taken against him. They also wanted MACC to be placed under Parliament’s purview.
However, the gathering made a last-minute change in location and the participants were told to gather at the Bangsar LRT station instead. About 500 people participated in the protest.
They had planned to march to Masjid Negara before ending their protest at Dataran Merdeka. However, police only allowed them to march to the end of Jalan Bangsar — where a wall of police officers stood guard at the Jalan Travers-Bangsar intersection to prevent them from proceeding any further.
Earlier this week, Brickfields police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said they were investigating the rally under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, Section 9(5) of the PAA and regulations under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
