Former deputy health minister Dr Lee Boon Chye was today named as the interim Perak PKR chief by party president Anwar Ibrahim.

PETALING JAYA:
PKR has named former deputy health minister Dr Lee Boon Chye as the party’s interim Perak chief.

This follows the decision of outgoing chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is resigning as the Kuala Kangsar division chief, to contest the post of Gombak division chief at the party elections in April.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said Lee, who is Gopeng MP, will assume the position until the party polls are held.

“I have proposed Lee to be the temporary chairman for a period of two months,” he said after a Perak PKR leadership meeting today.

Farhash had previously said he wanted to go up against Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari for the post of Gombak division chief.

Farhash also said he planned to contest against Gombak MP Azmin Ali and Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham at the next general election.
