He said this was in line with the wishes of the public who wanted a caring government as opposed to one that was busy politicking.
“Pejuang’s offer (in Johor) is a caring government that meets the needs of the people, from the social, educational and economic aspects. We must find a solution that impacts the people positively,” he said, according to a Berita Harian report.
Mukhriz said Pejuang would seek to revive economic growth in Johor, whose gross domestic product (GDP) had been declining for two consecutive years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the party contesting solo in the polls, he said the decision was to prevent Pejuang from compromising with its election partners on its promises to voters.
He said he learnt from his experience when he was in Bersatu, which could not fully fulfil its promises due to differences of opinion among Pakatan Harapan components after GE14.
“For example, in Johor, it is important that state government religious schools get more allocations, that teachers are paid enough, and that student welfare is protected.
“If we are part of a coalition, this may be a problem,” he said.
Earlier, Pejuang announced that it would contest in 42 of the 56 Johor state assembly seats.
Johor goes to the polls on March 12.
