Pahang traffic police chief Kamarulzaman Jusoh identified the man as Lee Cheng Yik, 22.
The accident is believed to have occurred when Lee, who was travelling towards Kuantan, lost control of his vehicle while trying to overtake a Proton Waja, and then collided with a Proton Saga.
“After colliding with the car, the victim’s vehicle is understood to have landed at the exit lane of a petrol station at the scene,” he said, adding that the drivers of the other two vehicles were unhurt.
Police pensioner, wife die in ravine plunge
In another highway accident, a police pensioner and his wife were killed and their son and daughter-in-law injured after their vehicle plunged into a ravine off the East Coast Expressway today.
Kuantan police chief Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said Abd Talib Akob, 73, and Fauziah Mohd Marzuki, 62, of Taman Muhibbah, Jerantut, died in the accident which occurred at 5.15pm during a heavy downpour.
The couple’s son Taufik, 34, who was driving the vehicle, suffered serious head injuries while his wife NoorSyafiyana Ahmad Sobri, 34, suffered minor injuries.
