Warisan will contest only ‘winnable’ seats in Perak, says Shafie

Warisan president Shafie Apdal says the party has activated its divisions in Tambun, Ipoh Barat, Ipoh Timur, Parit and Padang Rengas.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal said the party was now also identifying seats in other states to contest.
IPOH:
Warisan will contest only “winnable” parliamentary and state seats in Perak at the 15th general election, its president Shafie Apdal said.

“In Perak, we will not contest all seats. We are selective about which seats we are confident about winning.

“It depends on finding the leadership in Perak to coordinate and identify the suitable areas,” he said at a media conference after receiving party membership forms at a party event here today.

He received 1,200 membership forms from Perak Warisan chief coordinator Noor Hasnida Mohd Hashim at the event.

Shafie, who is Semporna MP, said Warisan was currently strengthening the party and five divisions had been activated in Perak since last year, in Tambun, Ipoh Barat, Ipoh Timur, Parit and Padang Rengas.

Shafie said the party was also identifying seats in other states that they can contest and will announce them after studies have been done.

“Warisan is a multiracial party and after this maybe there will be a coalition of other parties as there are those who have reached out to me.”
