Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Tajuddin Abdul Rahman ‘knows what he did’ against Umno.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was dropped from the Supreme Council for being critical of the party.

However, Zahid did not elaborate.

“You have to ask him what statements he made, whether at ceramahs or closed-door meetings. He definitely knows what he did,” he told reporters when asked to comment on Tajuddin’s removal.

Zahid said while Supreme Council members were allowed to have differing opinions, all decisions finalised by the party’s leadership must be complied with.

“There can be differences of opinion, but once a decision is made by the party, then it must be followed,” he said.

Asked if Tajuddin could appeal against his removal as a Supreme Council member, he said appeals only applied to members who were expelled, not when they were removed from a party position.

Commenting on Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s criticisms of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Zahid said the former Pulai MP was only expressing his personal views, which did not represent the party’s.

Yesterday, a letter regarding Tajuddin’s removal, dated June 21, made its rounds on social media, with Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan thanking the controversial MP for his services rendered.

Political analysts have described his removal as a “warning” to both Ismail and those aligned to him.
